Taylor Harris
Taylor Harris is an author, columnist, and personal essayist based in Richmond, Virginia. Her debut memoir, This Boy We Made: A Memoir of Motherhood, Genetics, and Facing the Unknown, won the Clara Johnson Award for Women's Literature. It was also a finalist for the Library of Virginia's People's Choice Literary Award, the Southern Book Award, and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award. Her mom liked it, too.
Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, TIME, O Magazine, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Cut, Longreads, SELF, and elsewhere. She writes "You've Always Been This Way," a McSweeney's column on being a late-diagnosed neurodivergent woman. She also teaches a science personal essay and memoir workshop for Johns Hopkins University. Taylor holds a BA in American Studies from the University of Virginia and an MA in Writing from Johns Hopkins.
Taylor collects Legos, sneakers, and books. She builds, wears, and reads them all. She counts buying coffee as a hobby.
